CISA Masters and PhD Fellowships

The Centre for Indian Studies in Africa (established in 2010) announces Masters by dissertation and PhD Fellowships funded by the Mellon Foundation on interdisciplinary and transnational research on histories of colonialism and post-colonialism, capital and labour, religion, literature across the Indian Ocean, and on post-colonial and post-Cold War socio-cultural and intellectual formations in the Global South.

We are inviting applications for 2 Masters of the value of R 90000 per annum and 2 PhD Fellowships of the value of R 120000 per annum which will be tenable for one and three years respectively starting January 2016. International candidates will be provided with one way return economy airfare.

Candidates in the case of the Masters application should have a first class Honours Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Candidates in the case of the PhD application should have a Master’s Degree in an appropriate Social Science discipline preferably with some experience of research or a research degree.

Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, a covering letter stating why they are interested in the programme that CISA offers, three references and copies of their certificates.
